Basic Stamp BS2E is not available as OEM module from Parallax.
Basic Stamp BS2sx OEM Module (Kit Form) may be obtained from Parallax at $39.99
Peter H. Anderson offers a Homebrew BS2 on a Protoboard for $24.95 in kit form and for $34.95 assembled and tested. breadboard assembly. Also an external 5.0 Volt regulated voltage source is required.
In the webpage WeetHet a homebrew BS2 based on the original design by P. H. Anderson is disccussed. The page includes detailled component list and description, a drawing to aid assembly and another drawing indicating the voltages that should be measured at various points of the circuit.
Based on the above information 2 one-layer printed circuit boards have been designed. The one for the BS2 is 52.5mm by 60mm and may actually be used both for BS2 and BS2E and BS2sx.The other one for BS2E and BS2sx is more compact; 45mm by 60mm. Both boards include a 5.0 Volt regulated voltage supply and a DB9 serial port connector.

It includes the rugged voltage regulator LM2940. All IC's are socketed to allow for replacement.
All you need to do is to plug in the Parallax PBasic interpreter chip for it to become a fully functional
Basic Stamp module.Please note that pin configuration is different than the Parallax OEM module.

DESCRIPTION : This unit was originally designed as a cockpit repeater for my Azimuth compass in my boat.
It may be used as repeater for any NMEA data outputing instrument. However, it is in fact a general purpose display.
Just plug in the back a BS2 module (to be ordered separately) and it will display any value input to pin0 by another
BS1/BS2 module or any data input to pin1 by a NMEA data outputing instrument.It is conveniently compact to go into a case.
